Thanks to this technique it is possible to reach the fish at greater depths between 15 and 70 meters. In many of our steep and cliffy subalpine lakes, it is the only promising way to find deep living predator fish such as lake trout, lake char and big perch.
It is based on a large STUCKI-deep-water reel with a short guide wire and usually 100 meters 0.60 mm thick steel wire.
On this steel line you will fix one or more lines (leaders) with a snap. A trolling-lead of 1 to 3 kg weight brings all to the desired depth. On the steel wire you can fix depth marks each 5 or 10 meter so you always know in what depth you are fishing. The leader line depends on the type of fish you want to catch. Normally they are 3-12 meters long and made of high quality nylon such as Vexter or Fighter in the strengths of 0.20 mm (Perch, Char) to 0.50 mm (trophy lake trout or pike).
As lures, we use light Spinners or special ultra-light spoons made of thin metal or mother of pearl. The trolling lures from STUCKI are well-known throughout Switzerland.
